From Yellow Cameras to Big Dreams: Starting Out in Photography (Again)

I can still remember the Christmas morning buzz.

I must have been about 10, tearing through the wrapping paper to find… a disposable camera. I smiled politely, but inside, my heart sank a little. I’d been dreaming of that bright yellow point-and-shoot I'd seen in the shop window for weeks.

A Lifelong Passion, Paused

That camera sparked something in me. I wouldn’t have called it a career ambition back then, but the love for capturing moments was already there.

But like so many passions, life got in the way.

School. Work. Becoming a parent. All the usual responsibilities.
Photography slipped into the background — still there, still mine, but on the back foot for nearly 20 years.

Now It's My Time

Now, I find myself at a turning point. A moment to refocus.
And I’ve made a decision: it’s time to bring photography to the front of my life — not just as a hobby, but as a career.

Emma’s Lens UK is the beginning of that journey.

Starting again isn’t always easy. I’m relearning, experimenting, chasing the light — and finding that the spark has never really gone out.
