🐾 What AI Can Do: My 35mm Dog Portraits Experiment
One of the most exciting parts of exploring AI has been seeing how it interprets detailed prompts creatively.
Recently, I experimented with creating a series of cinematic, 35mm-style dog portraits — moody, wet, and full of personality.
Here are a few of my favourites:
My Exact Prompt
If you’d like to try this yourself, here’s the exact prompt I used:
“Take this photo and create high definition sharp image. Create a close up of 3/4 profile with a strong contrast 35mm with a film portrait in water up to shoulder without changing facial features. Raining with wet (hair colour) hair with soft blue hues and soft facial expression. Lighting in the background blurred. Head tilted back as if looking up. Stormy moody aesthetic with dark deep blues and cool colour palette but keep warm highlights. Keep face as it is.”
It’s amazing how much control you can have over the final look just by carefully crafting your words. You can also experiment with small changes — like different breeds, colours, or moods — to make it your own.
Why I Still Go Outside With My Camera
Even though I enjoy playing with AI to create imaginative scenes like this, it also inspires me to get out there and try to capture something similar in real life.
There’s still nothing like standing in the rain with my camera and watching the real world unfold.
For me, AI is a tool for inspiration — not a replacement for the experience.
